FindTheNeedle

The Chapter 2 basement keypad code in Search For The Needle is printed on a paper lying on the floor of your own puzzle room. It is not the number on the paper beside the keypad, and it is not the code in a walkthrough. Two recorded runs entered different numbers, 7974 and 1874, for the same room layout. The keypad takes four digits, so read the highlighted digits on your own paper and type those.

Search For The Needle Basement Code: Read Your Own Paper

You are in the basement chapter of Search For The Needle, the wall keypad rejects the number you copied from a video, and nothing on the screen explains where the real one is. Here is where the number sits, how many digits to type, and what to check when it still fails.

The code is on your floor

The keypad number is printed on one of the paper scraps scattered across the puzzle-room floor. Most scraps are decoys: they carry a haystack poster on the front and a black X or a random number on the back.

The poster beside the keypad is a trap

In the run recorded on 2026-09-10 the paper beside the keypad carried 5831 and the creator read it as the code first. It was the wrong number; the one that worked came off a scrap on the floor.

Every room gets its own number

Two runs of the same chapter entered 7974 and 1874 and counted different crystals. The puzzle types repeat; the numbers do not. A code from a video belongs to the room it was filmed in.

The action

How to read the number and enter it

Do this in your own room, in this order. The only part that costs time is flipping the scraps until the code sheet turns up.

  1. 1. Walk the floor and flip the scraps. The code sheet stands out because it is the one that carries a number instead of the poster art. Keep flipping until one does.
  2. 2. Read the highlighted digits. The number can appear with more digits than the keypad accepts. In the 2026-09-10 run the screen showed 79747 and the first four digits were the highlighted ones; the keypad took 7974.
  3. 3. Type exactly as many digits as the keypad shows. Both recorded runs entered four digits. If your keypad displays four slots, do not pad or drop a digit to match a number you saw elsewhere.
  4. 4. Confirm and watch the objective count. The list on the left of the screen moves from Solve Puzzles 2/3 to 3/3 when the keypad accepts your number. If the count does not move, the number is wrong rather than the room being bugged.
Recorded runs

Two runs, same chapter, different numbers

These are the two third-party sessions this page is built on, both analysed in full on 2026-09-22. Each row is what that room showed, not a rule for yours.

Run oneKeypad 7974

Crystals in that room: Red 4 · purple 1 · green 2

The paper beside the keypad read 5831 and the creator read it as the code first, which was wrong. The code came off a floor scrap, and the screen then showed 79747 with the first four digits highlighted; the keypad accepted 7974.

Run twoKeypad 1874

Crystals in that room: Red 3 · purple 1 · green 1

A single floor paper carried 1874 and the keypad accepted it directly. The order of the three puzzles differed from the first run: the keypad came before the crystal pedestals.

When it still fails

Four checks before you give up on the keypad

Both recordings show the keypad accepting a correct four-digit number on the first confirmed try, so a rejection is worth another read before you assume the room is broken.

  1. 1. Count the digits you read against the keypad slots. A longer number with a highlighted prefix is the most likely miss.
  2. 2. Confirm you are reading a floor scrap and not the paper mounted beside the keypad.
  3. 3. Flip the remaining scraps. In the 2026-09-10 run the creator read the wall paper first and only found the real number after searching the floor.
  4. 4. Re-enter the digits one at a time and watch each slot fill. A dropped digit looks the same as a wrong code on the confirm press.
What comes next

The code opens a cage, not the exit

Finishing 3/3 releases the green alien. The escape door still needs a key that comes out of the haystack, so the basement ends in a clearing session.

The room sequence in both recordings was the same shape: pull the levers the coloured floor wires lead to, which opens the puzzle door; solve the picture puzzle, the crystal count and the keypad; then take the key out of the haystack. Only the basement chapter was on screen in either video, and this site has not recorded it itself, so treat the order as that of two September builds.

For which needle game runs this chapter at all, and which chapters exist after it, read the chapter identity guide. For codes and rewards that are not part of this room, use the codes desk.

Which game

This room is not in Find the Needle

A basement walkthrough found under the Find the Needle name is written for a different Roblox game. Match the place ID before you spend time on it.

Search For The Needle — has the basement

By Garage Games, place 77108422251420. Chapters 2, 3 and 4 exist here, and the basement chapter is the one this page covers.

🔍 Find the Needle! — no chapter

By aarush's fruit game, place 83238501165241. The recorded loop is clear hay, sell it, buy workbench upgrades, find the needle. No chapter or keypad puzzle was seen in it.

What this page cannot do

Two September recordings, nothing newer

Both videos were analysed in full on 2026-09-22 and describe the builds that were live in September. Nothing here was re-recorded since, and this site has not played the chapter itself.

The crystal counts, the digit count and the puzzle order come from those two sessions and could change in a later build. If your room disagrees with both runs, your screen is the newer evidence: keep the number your own keypad accepted and treat this page as the explanation of where to look. No crystal total here is a fixed answer to copy, because the two recordings already disagree with each other.
